Thank you for getting the word out about last Saturday’s Gardening for Healthier Communities event. It was once again a success and we appreciate everyone who showed up to offer a helping hand. We are well on our way to building a better tomorrow.
As we prepare for our Gardening for Healthier Communities event tomorrow July 22nd, we received some awesome news and wanted you to be the first to hear about it. Thank you Lowes of Ontario.
Because you believed in the mission… Last month, we began the long journey to seek 501(c)(3) tax exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service. Part of the process involved outlining our overall approach to charitable giving and the work we have done thus far.
The weather was HOT; but you were COOL about it. Last Saturday, 17 volunteers joined D’Andre Lampkin in Ontario, California for the Gardening for Healthier Communities event. We’re still tallying up the numbers but so far we discovered you were able to provide 13 families with a week worth of fresh organic produce in the 1 hour you spent harvesting in the garden.
Join us Saturday May 13th as he we kick off our first project for the Designing Neighborhood Agriculture (DNA) Initiative. We’re gardening for healthier communities. The DNA Initiative combines topical conversations, active working sessions, and farming education to highlight the importance and need for fresh organic produce in highly populated urban areas. The Lampkin Foundation has partnered with Huerta Del Valle, a non-profit, to host “A Day of Farming”. If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty with great company, this is the event for you!
Thank you everyone who participated in the 2017 Social Good Scholarship Fund Essay Contest, who hosted or attended a presentation at your organization or who shared this opportunity with their friends, neighbors, classmates, students and colleagues.
Tonight I am saddened to announce the passing of my dear friend David Stelmach (pictured kneeling in forward). I first met David in 2012 as I struggled to get my non-profit, the Breath Giving Portraits Project, off the ground. I was unsuccessful in my first attempt to raise money and decided to try again by funding everything out of pocket.
Season’s Greetings Friends of The Breath Giving Portraits Project –
I hope this holiday season finds you in great health and feelings of joy. You are receiving this email because 1 year ago you were a financial backer or supporter of the BGP fundraiser at www.kickstarter.com. Unfortunately, in 2011 the project was not successfully funded. Because funding on Kickstarter is all or nothing, all pledges had been automatically canceled.
