Los Angeles County Development Authority

Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) is an independent public agency that “builds better lives and better neighborhoods” across Los Angeles County. Formed in 1982 through the consolidation of the Housing Authority, Community Development Department, and Redevelopment Agency, and rebranded as LACDA in 2019, the agency’s core pillars are affordable housing, community development, and economic development.

LACDA administers a wide range of programs that benefit residents and businesses in unincorporated communities and participating cities, including public and affordable housing, rental assistance for more than 28,000 low-income families through the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program, financing for affordable housing development, homeownership and home-improvement assistance, and small-business and neighborhood revitalization initiatives. As a key partner in the County’s Homeless Initiative, LACDA invests in permanent supportive housing and innovative programs that help residents find and keep safe, stable homes.
