Last month, the D’Andre D. Lampkin Foundation received an award in the amount of $7,343 from San Bernardino County‘s Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP). Funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), EFSP boards across the United States determine how to allocate their funds to local human service agencies.

Ontario-based D’Andre D. Lampkin Foundation offers Social Good Scholarships for high school students

The Ontario-based D’Andre D. Lampkin Foundation is again offering scholarships to high school students who participate in community-building initiatives and programs. The Lampkin Foundation has awarded its Social Good Scholarships since 2017 and this year has increased the award amounts. Thanks to the generosity of donors, this year’s grand prize is a $2,000 scholarship, and two honorable mention entries will receive $1,000 scholarships, according to a news release.

Beginning in March 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic hit and business and school shut-downs began, the nonprofit went into high gear. Last year, the nonprofit helped 1,100 families get free groceries. From March to July 2020, it distributed 1,265 hot meals, Lampkin said.

As needs for food, job placement services and recovery efforts from a widening pandemic escalated, space at the D’Andre D. Lampkin Foundation in Ontario was cramped. On a June day in 2020, self-described evangelist Loretta Gilbert began to prophesy that the fledgling nonprofit packed into an office suite on East Convention Center Way would expand.

Alumni Donate Backpacks and School Supplies to Audubon’s Entire Student Body

Giving back is more than a phrase for alumni of Audubon Middle School and Gifted Magnet in L.A.’s Leimert Park neighborhood. In response to a request to help current students, several graduates united to donate nearly 600 backpacks filled with supplies, which was enough to provide a goody-packed satchel to each of the school’s 500 pupils.

Convention Center Way, Suite 210, Ontario. LifeStream Blood Bank, a nonprofit providing blood products to hospitals in Southern California, will collect blood donations at the drive.

Ontario and San Bernardino will have the largest percentage of residents receiving federal coronavirus stimulus checks than those living in any other California cities, according to a recent survey. A recent report by SmartAsset, a technical financial advisory company, ranked Ontario as No. 12 and San Bernardino at No. 22 in the nation, both within the list of Top 25 cities with the highest percentage of households expecting a check.

It’s not often that a City Council meeting becomes an emotional experience — well, except when someone becomes angry. But that wasn’t the case Tuesday night in Ontario, when the shooting of Michael Gracia in Las Vegas became the prime topic of conversation. Gracia, an Ontario police officer, was off-duty at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival when he and his fiancee were among the nearly 500 injured in the mass shooting Sunday

Guidestar Seal of Transparency

For the fourth consecutive year, the Lampkin Foundation has again been awarded a Platinum Seal of Transparency by GuideStar, the world’s largest source of information on U.S. nonprofits. The Platinum designation is the highest level bestowed by GuideStar, an honor shared by just two dozen of the 2,500 nonprofits GuideStar tracks in the greater Ontario California region. The rating designates the “highest level of recognition and an opportunity for nonprofits to share their progress in a meaningful way,” according to the organization’s website. the Lampkin Foundation has earned the Platinum status every year since 2017.
