Are You Ready? Disaster Preparedness Day is Wednesday, August 24, 2022!
Wildfires, floods, explosions, heatwaves, earthquakes and, of course, the COVID-19 pandemic are reminders that the best time to prepare your family for disaster is NOW!
And the most immediate NOW is happening for the third year in a row at the D’Andre D. Lampkin Foundation’s Disaster Preparedness Day, taking placce on Wednesday August 24, 2022.
This family-friendly event (the goal is to inform, not frighten) features demonstrations on how to prepare a budget-friendly emergency kit, understand how insurance policies work, learn how your city may respond to disasters, and how to volunteer when a disaster occurs.
Free admission, free parking, and free hot dogs included. Leave dinner to us!
“When California started to address the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the situation could have been made worse if we also had to deal with an earthquake or other natural disaster. So, I’m always thinking about making sure our first responders; our police officers and firefighters have the tools they need and looking at ways we can prepare our residents for the next disaster,” said Rodriguez, Chair of the Assembly Select Committee on Economic Development in the Inland Empire.
“We are also grateful for opportunities to have these important discussions with our government leaders. As a law enforcement professional, I’m keenly aware that when major disasters occur, chances are first responders will not be able to reach everyone. That is why it is crucial for residents to understand everyone plays a role in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters,” said D’Andre Lampkin.
Look for demonstrations by the Ontario Police Department, Ontario Fire Department, and Community Emergency Response Teams, better known as CERT. These volunteers help prepare their neighbors for the unexpected disasters and can help first responders with basic disaster response.
Kids can meet police officers and firefighters who respond to real-life emergencies every day.
Adults can speak with representatives from a host of agencies and community partners. These include organizations ranging from helping individuals understand their insurance policy to health care.
Event starts at 4:00 PM at the D’Andre D. Lampkin Foundation, 2151 E Convention Center Way, Ontario, California.
