About Our Scholars
Each year, the D’Andre D. Lampkin Foundation awards three scholarships to high school students who are leaders in their community. Students are tasked with illustrating how they plan to use their chosen field of study to promote civic engagement. Unlike most scholarships, selection criteria were not based solely on academic or athletic abilities. Award recipients are chosen based on how they are making positive contributions to their community and their efforts to make their community stronger and more resilient.
Steven Henderson
Meet the D’Andre D Lampkin Foundation 2017 Social Good Scholars, Steven Henderson is a seventeen-year-old senior attending Cajon High School in the friendly city of San Bernardino, California. As an active you in the community, he has been invoved in several extracurricular activities such as mission projects and community service events that promote social good:
- Participant in University of South California’s Young Center Think Tank Leadership Program
- Member of the National Society of High School Scholars
- Member of the Associated Student Body; Communication
- Vice President of the Black Student Union
- Member of the Cajon High School Varsity Track Team and recipient of the Most Improved Award
- Membership at Church of Living God
- Peer health educator for Planned Parenthood
- Volunteer with Young Visionaries Leadership Academy
Steven Henderson is an exceptional young individual who has been awarded the D’Andre D Lampkin Foundation Social Good Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes Steven’s commitment to making a positive impact in his community and his dedication to academic excellence. Steven has shown great leadership skills in his advocacy and civic engagement, particularly in his efforts to promote youth entrepreneurship and leadership. He has also been actively involved in mentoring and supporting young people in his community, providing them with the guidance and resources they need to pursue their goals and dreams.
