Social Good Scholarship Fund

Supporting Students Who Are Committed to Service, Leadership, and Community Impact

The Social Good Scholarship Fund supports students and emerging leaders who are committed to education, civic engagement, public service, and building stronger communities. Through scholarship support, the D’Andre D. Lampkin Foundation helps reduce financial barriers while encouraging young people to use their education, creativity, and leadership to make a positive difference in the world around them.

The Foundation believes that “social good” begins when individuals choose to serve others, strengthen their communities, and take action on issues that matter. Whether through volunteerism, public service, storytelling, advocacy, education, or community-based projects, students have the ability to inspire change and help build a more resilient future.

Why This Program Matters

Education is one of the most powerful tools for expanding opportunity. Yet many students face financial, social, and personal barriers that can make the path to college or career advancement more difficult.

The Social Good Scholarship Fund was created to recognize students who are not only pursuing academic success, but also demonstrating a commitment to service, leadership, and community impact. The program encourages young people to think deeply about how their education, talents, and chosen field of study can be used to improve the lives of others.

By investing in students who care about social good, the Foundation is investing in future leaders who understand that strong communities are built through compassion, responsibility, creativity, and action.

What the Foundation Does

Through the Social Good Scholarship Fund, the Foundation provides scholarship support to eligible students who demonstrate academic achievement, community involvement, leadership potential, and a commitment to making a positive impact.

The program encourages applicants to reflect on their personal background, their understanding of social good, and how they intend to use their education to strengthen communities. The legacy scholarship program also invited students to submit short videos explaining how they are making their communities stronger and why civic engagement matters.

The Foundation’s approach is designed to do more than award financial assistance. It is intended to elevate student voices, encourage civic engagement, and inspire young people to see themselves as builders of stronger, more resilient communities.

Program Priorities

The Social Good Scholarship Fund supports students who demonstrate interest or experience in areas such as:

  • public service
  • community engagement
  • volunteerism
  • civic leadership
  • social impact
  • education
  • youth leadership
  • nonprofit service
  • resilience-building
  • advocacy or community improvement

Preference may be given to students who show interest in public service, community leadership, or work that benefits society. The legacy program also considered academic achievement, financial need, student background, creativity, and the potential impact of each applicant’s message.

Who This Program Serves

The Social Good Scholarship Fund is designed to support students who are preparing for higher education and who have demonstrated a desire to serve, lead, and contribute to the common good.

The legacy scholarship criteria focused on high school juniors and seniors enrolled in accredited public or private high schools, with applicants expected to meet academic requirements and submit required application materials.

For the current application cycle, students should review the Foundation’s most recent scholarship announcements, eligibility requirements, deadlines, and submission instructions before applying.

Student Voice and Storytelling

A unique part of the Social Good Scholarship Fund is its emphasis on student voice. The Foundation believes students should have opportunities to explain their vision, tell their story, and describe how they want to make a difference.

In earlier scholarship cycles, applicants were invited to create short videos explaining how they were making their communities stronger and why civic engagement matters. The video challenge encouraged students to use creativity, emotion, storytelling, and personal reflection to motivate others to get involved in building stronger communities.

This storytelling component reflects the Foundation’s broader belief that lived experience, creativity, and community voice are essential parts of social change.

Past Scholars

The Social Good Scholarship Fund has recognized students whose work, creativity, and leadership reflect the spirit of service and community impact.

One past recipient highlighted on the legacy page was Sabrina “Adeline” McCabe, a student and published author whose work addressed race, education disparities, sexual assault, social stigma, empowerment, and youth activism. Her story reflected the kind of student leadership, courage, and civic awareness the scholarship was designed to encourage.

As the program grows, the Foundation will continue highlighting scholars whose stories reflect resilience, leadership, and a commitment to social good.

Connection to Community Resilience

The Social Good Scholarship Fund is part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to community resilience. Resilient communities depend on people who are prepared to lead, serve, solve problems, and care about the well-being of others.

By supporting students who are committed to social good, the Foundation helps strengthen the next generation of civic leaders, educators, public servants, nonprofit professionals, healthcare workers, entrepreneurs, advocates, and community builders.

This program connects directly to the Foundation’s work in youth development, civic engagement, community education, economic opportunity, and long-term resilience.
