The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Explorer Program has been a transformative experience for many young people, such as D’Andre Lampkin. Last week, Lampkin participated in the Colors Run for Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Explorer Program Academy 111, running in full deputy sheriff uniform. This event marked another milestone in Lampkin’s journey as a public servant, inspired by his over 6 years in the Explorer Program.

The Explorer Program aims to introduce young people to the world of public service and law enforcement. It teaches them about the importance of serving the community, the sacrifices made by those in public service, and the level of commitment required to serve effectively. Through hands-on experiences and mentorship from law enforcement professionals, youth like Lampkin learn valuable skills such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.
