Charity Journal Features the Lampkin Foundation’s Vision for the Center for Community Resilience

The D’Andre D. Lampkin Foundation is grateful to Charity Journal for featuring our vision for the Center for Community Resilience, a proposed disaster resilience hub in Ontario, California.

The article highlights the Foundation’s effort to create a multi-purpose center that brings together emergency preparedness, community education, food security, volunteer coordination, youth leadership, and long-term recovery support under one roof.

This feature comes at an important time. Across Southern California and throughout the United States, communities continue to face disasters and disruptions that test their strength, preparedness, and ability to recover. The 2025 Los Angeles wildfires are a recent reminder that recovery does not end when the immediate emergency response is over. Families, neighborhoods, volunteers, and local organizations often continue navigating long-term needs well after the headlines fade.

The Center for Community Resilience is being envisioned as a place where those lessons can be preserved, taught, and turned into action. Through interactive learning exhibits, community programming, a food pantry, volunteer coordination, and spaces for dialogue and training, the center will help individuals and families better understand how preparedness and community stakeholdership strengthen resilience.

At its core, this campaign is about more than a building. It is about creating a permanent home for education, service, and community-driven recovery. It reflects our belief that strong communities are built when people see themselves as stakeholders in the wellbeing of their neighbors.
